Data center immersion cooling is a technique that helps improve thermal design by directly immersing IT hardware in a non-conductive liquid. The heat generated by the electronic components is directly and efficiently transferred to the fluid, thereby reducing otherwise needed active cooling components, such as interface materials, heat sinks and fans. Immersion cooling can also help reduce electricity consumption, water usage, carbon footprint and real estate costs for data centers. There are two main types of immersion cooling: Single-phase immersion cooling uses a liquid that remains in its liquid state throughout the cooling process, while two-phase immersion cooling uses a liquid that boils and vaporizes when it contacts the hot components, then condenses back to liquid when it cools down.

An immersion load bank is a type of load bank that uses water-immersion elements to dissipate heat generated by the electrical load. A load bank is a device that simulates an electrical load and tests the performance of power sources such as generators, batteries, or UPS systems. An immersion load bank can be water-cooled or air-cooled, depending on the cooling medium used to remove heat from the water-immersion elements。Immersion load banks are typically used for indoor applications where noise and space are restricted, or for marine applications where seawater can be used as a coolant.
